Super Bowl 50-Put Your Hopper DVR to the Test
Every year, February’s arrival brings with it an event set with anticipation… Super Bowl Sunday. Even if your team didn’t make it to the “Big Game”, there’s a pretty good chance you’ll be tuning in, OR you were willing to drop $6,500 on a ticket… In either case, of the estimated 112 Million people expected to watch Super Bowl 50 (the first to not use Roman Numerals), around 22 Million viewers will be watching for the commercials alone. Pretty amazing considering how much time we spend trying to avoid them…
This Sunday, February 7, 2016 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, the NFC champion Carolina Panthers and the AFC champion Denver Broncos face-off for the chance to become this years “world champion” team. On average, 30 seconds of Super Bowl ad time costs each brand 5 Million Dollars… and that’s just for the air time. They still had to pay for the commercial itself. At those prices, the commercials better be great.
For some, the halftime show is can’t miss, for others it’s can’t stand… But, even the can’t miss crowd is scatter shot with those waiting for this year’s miscues, failures and hilarious minor catastrophes – we’re looking at you Left Shark.

This commercial is a real “wiener”, and if it’s not a great reason to avoid using the Hoppers auto-hop feature to skip commercials this Sunday, I don’t what is…
Don’t forget to set one of your Hopper 3’s 16 DVR channels to catch all the action happening on this year’s Puppy Bowl on the Animal Planet DISH channel 184. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed.
You can watch Super Bowl 50 this Sunday, February 7, 2016 on your local CBS affiliate. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 PM Eastern.
For those of you planning on switching the channels during the 30 minute halftime show, featuring Coldplay (sponsored by Pepsi, in case you were wondering). Historically, there have been enough “did you see that”, “can you believe it” “OMG!” moments to make DVR almost mandatory.
Here’s a taste of the awesome commercials launching this Sunday:
