Cricket Fans Rejoice-Dish Willow TV Expansion
Yesterday, DISH announced an expanded relationship with Willow TV International and the Willow cricket channel. DISH customers will be able to watch the world’s most popular matches, from the ICC, India, Pakistan, Australia, South Africa, West Indies and more. Willow TV International will bring you matches in high definition, and coverage of live overlapping matches. Willow is currently included in most major South Asian packages, including Dish Hindi TV Packages and DISH customers will have access to the most extensive cricket programming available in the U.S.
This will be the first time that major ICC events, will be provided at no additional charge on the Willow cricket channel. This includes the ICC World Twenty20 2016, which is set to begin March 8, 2016. Prior to the new arrangement, many of these events were only available pay-per-view.
In a statement, DISH expressed their excitement to expand the partnership that began in 2010, “we are not only bringing our customers the best in live matches for years to come, we’re delivering on our commitment to make DISH ‘your home for cricket,’… With this agreement we are now able to bring U.S. viewers the most comprehensive cricket offering in the market, all in high definition.”
Vijay Srinivasan, CEO of Willow TV International responded in kind, stating “In just over five years since we launched Willow on DISH, we have expanded our coverage of live international cricket to unprecedented levels… We are extremely pleased to further strengthen our partnership with DISH, and to announce the availability of the ICC World Twenty20 2016 and other ICC events on the Willow cricket channel for DISH viewers.”
